I found the other day on one of BBC's page, some kind of entertaining article about music and personnality.
A research has been done and the main conclusion is that "Musical tastes and personality type are closely related" (according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world)
To read the full article, it's here
I think there is logic here to associate music to certain type of personnality, even if of course you can't generalize!
Amond several things, they say: "The general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidally depressed and of being a danger to themselves and society in general. But they are quite delicate things" ... hehe... I confirm!
Here is a an exemple of what they could find from their research
(there are a few musical categories that are really missing here me thinks... and putting rock+heavy metal together just can't fit! But anyway, it's fun!)
Type of music ---> personnality
"BLUES (BB King) : High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle and at ease
JAZZ (Thelonius Monk) : High self-esteem, creative, outgoing and at ease
CLASSICAL MUSIC (Nigel Kennedy) : High self-esteem, creative, introvert and at ease
RAP (Public Enemy) : High self-esteem, outgoing
OPERA (Aida) : High self-esteem, creative, gentle
COUNTRY AND WESTERN (Dolly Parton) : Hardworking, outgoing
REGGAE (Linton Kwesi Johnson) : High self-esteem, creative, not hardworking, outgoing, gentle and at ease
DANCE (Rave) : Creative, outgoing, not gentle
INDIE (Pete Doherty) : Low self-esteem, creative, not hard working, not gentle
BOLLYWOOD (Dancers) : Creative, outgoing
ROCK/HEAVY METAL (Metallica) : Low self-esteem, creative, not hard-working, not outgoing, gentle, at ease
CHART POP (Kylie Minogue) : High self-esteem, not creative, hardworking, outgoing, gentle, not at ease
SOUL (James Brown) : High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle, at ease"
huhu, I'm not hard working then?
well, if that means I don't like working hard, no problem, that's right! :P
