The wedding of my cousin the other day was perfect. Some women were wearing funny hats, champagne had that gold colour and Heaven's taste, the bride was exquisite, children were building perfect memories, etc etc.
A wedding like in movies you know. Honestly I like it, nobody marry anymore nowadays, at least around us. We're more into the age category now where people get into divorce.
Hell, shouldn't we celebrate sometimes divorces? new life beginnings? Sometimes, I'm sure we should. Might be a good biz to build around that ;)
When I was in the church, one of the best moment to observe people, my eyes got caught by the most welcoming message you can read on the painted window (Thou shall obey me until death).
I really shivered, The warm and happy atmosphere were escaping me for a moment. I wanted to take my brush and transform that awful message into something human, plain... Thou shall fuck happily until death? Thou shall disobey when you heart tell you so? blablabla
Thank ermm God, the lovely couple shared an adorable kiss that brought back the warmth I wanted to feel. I happily left the dark church.

Art made of blood, semen, piss and shit?
Soooo shocking!!! Yummmy! :-)))
Andres Serrano, I knew him from this fantastic photo he made for Metallica's album, Load
the original artwork was called "Semen and Blood III", the visual was actually made of bovine semen and blood between two sheets of plexiglass.
Andres said about it: "Lars and Kirk were very into abstract art pretending they were gay. I think they knew it bugged me. It was a statement around all that. I love art, but not for the sake of shocking others. I think the cover of Load was just a piss-take around all that. I just went along with the make-up and all of this crazy, stupid shit that they felt they needed to do."
The thing is... I LOVED that cover, that visual from the very beginning. It was kinda disgusting, looked like blood and saliva to me. But the movement, the shape, it seemed very alive. The colours too.
Once I learnt it was made of blood and semen, I found it even more beautiful. Just regret it was of bovine origin and not human.
Maybe this Piss Christ is his most famous work, because of the controversy it brought...
(Recently in Avignon, the photography frame was even destroyed ... The gallery director plans to reopen the museum with the damaged works "so people can see what barbarians can do ").

This Piss Christ is actually a photo of a plastic crucifix immersed in the photographer's own urine.
Serrano defended his work as a criticism of the "billion-dollar Christ-for-profit industry" and a "condemnation of those who abuse the teachings of Christ for their own ignoble ends". His work was also damaged in Australia, and neo-Nazis got violent at a Serrano exhibition in Sweden in 2007.
Enough controversy to make it really interesting to me. Besides, honestly I love that pic. I did not know how it was made, but I found some warmth in it, the light, everything, I liked it. Now I know it's a Christ in urine, it makes it crazily interesting! I love it.
Yes it's shocking, but the criticism are not always against religion (mine would be of course!)... Some say it's the Christ's glory despite the world ugliness, etc.
Sister Wendy tells her view in the most adorable and open-minded way here.

Yes, shocking and provocative... but it pushes people to talk, and I do love that!
You can see more of his work here
I love his work on weapons, guns, the "objects of desire" series.. (btw, I love the titles he gives to his art pieces, so very important!)
I'm still wondering about his next show ... It's pretty extreme... huhu... : ))
I was surprised by that Evil shit ... not by the shit itself (which looks like a yummy brownie, really), but the title of it "Evil shit". Makes my imagination running already. Which Evil ? And if Evil can produce such shit, it makes Evil very real... you can build a whole story around. I like it. ** shrugging **

Gabe will save us all
An angel coming to tell a woman she'll soon be pregnant... That's enough to feed many fantasies huh!

Thank God (actually!) for providing so many lil interesting and often salacious stories!
Gabe and Mary (full painting here)... a couple we never think about. I wanted to make them human. One could imagine I just use simple provocation but that's not true. I don't care, the provocation is so easy. So, not interesting. No one, no god or ideas should reduce men to slaves or should require worship. We are them.
I refuse the holy tale by making it human. I won't believe in holy tales but...
Yes I can believe in desire and love.
We should worship a woman being pregnant from a ghost father (holy spirit?) ... isn't it scary that so many people believe it (including me for a long time) to be so real.
Brrrrr... makes me shiver how easy we are to be convinced about whatever!

Fate, resistance, survival ?
Can't add much more than a doodle to the whole story.
Rage, yes I can add that word.
Then Hope will follow. No choice.

The little tavern on the prairie (5 crowns!)
I had no idea what would this room become.
Suddenly it looks and feels like an old tavern, no kidding!
The old table (18th century, yeah I'm proud and I bet the table has seen lots of pretty asses! :P), the candles and oil lamps, the "ivrognier" (just the name is inspiring, I can't translate it, just know that "ivrogne"is a drunk man, an "ivrogner is some kind of old furniture in which you can put bottles). I don't have enough bottles yet. lol. Well, we have, but they never last!
There's also a Christ somewhere, I did not want him in my house. Can anyone start a petition for me? :P
Anyway, when you enter this room, you are in a tavern! You only see half of it on the pics, there's also that big fireplace in the middle of it! ... and when you start sipping your Bretonnish (or not) beverage, then you expect thieves and whores and weird creatures (like you!) anytime! I love it!

Besides, I think I beat Caroline Ingalls on her own ground (phewwwwww!): the lil tavern on the prairie sound much more cool!

My predator
I can't use my wounded finger as well since yesterday, can't stretch it at all but... I managed to finish my last painting! I'm back on the rails, and ready to paint a new world!
I've got what I wanted. I'm pretty happy with it ! So much work involved, you wouldn't believe it :)

Paradise's not for the Weak !
I'm happy religion is an old tale for me... otherwise I would have really worried for my after-life future!
The (not) funny guys tell you the more you resist temptation (not talking for themselves though of course), the better future you'll get when you die. Oh yeah, if you really lead a painful and hard life, if you sacrifice yourself, that will be cool. Later, just much later. When again??
I ermm... do not resist easily temptation. Take an example for instance... (thinking super hard)... shoes!
(-shrugging-... hey why not!)
Soon I'll get much older and thought I could treat myself you know, and in a girlie way. Well, first idea was "boots"... but hey, oh, it's almost summer, we're supposed to suffer from intolerable heat here in Paris... that shoemakers decided only sandals would be necessary.
(shaking head)
No boots available... !

I walked... desperate in the cold Parisian streets when... I found these beauDies!
oh yeah. But The bloody God's working against me, in the 4 shops I visited, there was not my (small) size available anymore! grmmphh!
Oh I'll get them... they're so cute and, as the cherry on the cake, so cheap!
(drooling)

Waving @god and bunnies
what do I tell my children... all these religious festivities when I don't believe in them... hard to explain them -when they ask- about the big *why* !
I've started to talk of Jesus as a legend stuff. Really I don't want to break their lil heart with realities (well, mines at least)... They've already seen a lot of crucifix and feel really concerned with anything concerning this man being nailed on wood boards.
About Easter...I've told them, he died then came back to life (rolling eyes). They asked *how*. I said it's all magic (with a wink...)
Loup asked me if he was really ugly when he came back from his tomb. hehe...
I believe that celebrating legends is a most wonderful thing. Of course my babes will get their chocolate treats, just tomorrow. I will tell them about another legend (thinking quickly!): some god wanting to create a paradise of chocolate for his friends, training hard and asking the Earth kids' approval every year.
***
When I was a kid, every year on Easter I started an allergy to chocolate. Every year.
Only on Easter time!
I had red marks all over the hands, and arms and legs. And that started after 1 piece of chocolate only!
My body was rebelling already against the ol' legends! :P

Eve
... again! :)
The other day I was looking @Michelangelo's Genesis work...
I recently used some of his work (for my last collage, the body of the lion is Michelangelo's Bacchus statue, and now I (re)discover Michelangelo's "Eve"!

Waww, his Eve is some kind of strong woman... I'd say she is a champion @body pump (her arms OMG! she really beats me there)& she's also a woman who enjoys partying!
It seems that the snake, who has a human appearance, is a female (the snake is exposing breast, no?)... ohhhh! Would it be a totally revolutionary first lesbian representation of the Genesis... and it belongs to the Sistine Chapel's ceiling!
That rocks!
My Eve in comparison seem really ermm, sweet. Forgive her, she's in love :) With that strong snake, that snake which surrounds her with tenderness and desire.

Adam, Eve & funny ol' God
I was first attracted by God's voice here... made me laugh really!
And then even if the whole series is not totally hilarious, there are real funny moments made in a clever way! I like it!
I also highly recommend the beginning of "Sodom & Gomorrah"... ;-)
They're all very short films, you'll find them here
PS: Even if the vision of women in the Bible is more than irritating, I can easily consider Eve as a kind of heroine. lol. But Adam, poor Adam, he has such a negative image. I mean hey he's supposed to be like an icon, a reference, the first *man on earth*... well...

Chains, walls & sacrifice
There is this young woman doing sport with us, body combat and body attack. She wears a scarf like this one you know? She is also heavily dressed, you can't see any skin except the hands and the face.
I find it very kewl that someone that you wouldn't imagine physically expressing herself that much does such sports!
Yet that makes me feel uncomfortable not because of the religion behind, the beliefs. It's just that workout, sports like body combat and body attack are for women (and men!) definitely a strong expression of pleasure, independence, confidence and freedom ... The contrast makes me feel uncomfortable, yes. As if the body wanted to express something the person refuses to admit. It's not my "problem" of course, but freedom is one of my personal battles, so I feel concerned.
I want Lola to be proud to be a woman, never look down, or hide or make any sacrifice in the name of a person, a god, a religion because of *what* she is: a woman.
Wearing that scarf there.. is like refusing that total freedom to women, not accepting it, putting walls.
Makes me shiver.
Of course she is free to believe what she wants, and she is probably really happy this way. Yet, when I stand near her, feeling so free, there's something really sad. Two worlds.
