To me it sounded as a joke. You can really feel the cold humour behind his words. The artist' provocation.
The guy is punished for talking freely. But as he will mention... he felt like talking to a bunch of friend who would have understood, not to the whole planet. He should have been careful. Should remember we're in a society that judges according to extreme moral codes.

Which Jane come to your mind? Tarzan's? Eyre? Fonda (haaa pretty Barbarella!) ?

Jane Campion was so far the only woman winning the top prize at Cannes Festival a few years ago with the Piano. I found that quite surprising. Not chocking, just surprising.

When I think of that (powerful) movie... I believe it had to be made by a woman. There was a particular approach. Feminine I think.

I love her sensitivity.

And I like when she talks of the "romantic impulse", that I would translate as "passion"..

"I think that the romantic impulse is in all of us and that sometimes we live it for a short time, but it's not part of a sensible way of living. It's a heroic path and it generally ends dangerously. I treasure it in the sense that I believe it's a path of great courage. "

Cinema botox

I know, (just can't remember them right now), a few remakes that are better than the original ones... Yet I can't understand the process, specially when the movie was a success.

The best remakes are often said to be the Fly or the Thing, which are both excellent, but I have no idea what the originals are. lol

Here is a list ... where you discover many good movies are actually remakes of unknown ones!

Today I read there were TWO remakes to come for this perfect one:

The Social Network

because... even if not truly exciting, it's quite entertaining to learn about the fucking gifted and clever bastards  that created Facebook or Napster. And being the users of all their inventions, we feel part of the machine, funny. Scary.

Well I'm not sure it sums up the movie really. It was my favourite among this list. Why, I think Colin Firth's acting made everything, and all the supporting actors. I truly loved it.

Black Swan

Because you get caught by the atmosphere, the sharp stress. I wasn't attracted at all by the movie. I knew I'd see a wonderful actress acting, but then... The ballet background... of course you expect competition to get really bad... but I must say it was quite surprised and pretty good.

127 Hours

Because of one scene, crazy wonderful, where the main character films himself as in a talk show. It was waw WAW so good! Just for that fantastic scene, I'd watch it again!
I thought the whole movie was predictable. I wasn't wrong. But the acting, the filming + this special scene makes it good enough.

True Grit

For that scene where the young girl crosses the river on her big horse to finally get spanked on the other side for being a disobeying girl! Haha yeah, what a scene! : )))
But the 45 first minutes of the movie were way too long, the ending really bad.

All these movies have one thing in common: incredible actors, I mean all of them! I was really positively shocked by that!

Ok, the thing is... I just can't get enough of rum, sex and rock 'n roll ... movies lately!

V like Very bad pets!

I've watched already some weeks ago V season 1 and just started watching season 2 ... well, just entertaining to me, perfect when multitasking! ... ok with less charm and of course originality than the ermm... original ;-) but some good points in the new one too.

There's a spoiler in the season 2 trailer, but my sister's such a fan of "her" that I had to share it :P

Indiana Jones + James Bond in the same movie ? oh yum !!!

What genre will this movie belong to?
Comical adventure?
Action farce?
(don't say "tragedy" while rolling your eyes, that would break my heart)

My two favourite genres in one: western + science fiction ! Yayyyy !!!
The title itself is PERFECT!

It's looks improbable enough and crazy enough to be memorable!

Alice's theme

So many jewels when you start exploring tv & movies' music.

Danny Elfman, ok, we all know him, we're kinda used to his style (Wink @the man with the harmonica :P)
But, again, here with Alice... he was quite inspired, that piece keeps stuck in my mind since days!

Right, you've guessed now what movie the devils and I have seen for the very first time yesterday, hm?!
We might have been the last 3 French ones who had not seen this movie... lol

I can tell you I expected to be disappointed.
I can tell you I expected the plot to be really common. I expected an overdose of sentimentalism. That's usually what's popular!

I can tell you I'm free from chains, but it's hard to be free from pre-conceived ideas! ;-)

Got caught by the magic of it. Yes some will shrug because they've not been touched and I do understand.

From a simple basis, plot, this movie has developed many ideas and threads with much sensitivity and poetry, that's what I think. I don't know if talent is incompatible with block busters, but I don't think. It requires a LOT of talent to gather sensitivities around a same movie.

Anyway, I was talking of Avatar.

Visually, it reached perfection. And for once, the script behind was not poor. It was highly entertaining. Quality can be reached on several levels.

Oh and I was SO happy to get Ripley back. When I saw Sigourney was part of the crew, I loaded my big machine, ready to fire @the bitch hiding in the ceiling! lol

Later, I watched Tarentino's Inglorious Basterds ... Got some fine icecream and was into the mood. No regreat. Will watch it again! That was so fucking good. Tarentino's one of the very best to me. He's just proved it again.

frogs, google and French stereotypes

Being curious, I've typed the other day "french woman" then "french man" in google. And that's what I've got in first place :



lol, well... now I think of it I don't know any French man among my friends having a moustache (only Germans can do that :P), or a beret.
As for women, our French women reputation is safe with such pretty one I reckon :-)

The other day I was talking about my "candy froggie" handle referring to the frog legs eaters that we are (well, I doubt any of us even eat frog legs once a year!)
Stereotypes are funny, sometimes surprising, but you always learn from them. Do you know or are you aware of the stereotypes of your own country? Do they make you uncomfortable or angry?

Besides what's listed on the link above, we French are also often said to be arrogant, are we? I think I'm always right, but not because I'm French, just because **shrugging**, I'm right!

If I remember French people are said to stink because (of the English spreading terrible ideas! lol), because centuries ago, people, aristocrats did not bath for fear of, I don't remember. Centuries ago. lol
I swear we're supa clean and smell wonderfully, well, I do at least lol

French women have the reputation to not shave and at the same time to be sophisticated?? I have no idea lol. I do shave and don't know if I'm sophisticated.

Do you think of other stereotypes about the French?

(oh and while looking for stuff about frogs, I've found that lil jewel! lol
Frogs can be scary too -hoping my devilish frown can work here-)
